COME CELEBRATE THE OPENING OF 65th ANNIVERSARY SEASON WITH BRAVO I CONCERT FOLLOWED BY GALA RECEPTION ON THE FOUNTAINPLAZA Music Director, Crafton Beck has filled the first half of the concert with musical selections that conjure up colorful romantic scenes including Wagner’s stormy Overture to The Flying Dutchman, Mahler’s haunting Um Mitternacht and Richard Strauss’ spirited Don
Juan. The vocal soloist for the Mahler song will be Viola Dacus of the Music Department of Mississippi College.
Patrons will be treated to a complimentary glass of wine (or non-alcoholic option) during the concert’s intermission.
Following intermission, Beck has chosen cellist, Eric Kim to join the MSO in a performance of the beloved Cello Concerto by Antonin Dvorak. Juilliard School of Music. After serving for twenty years as Principal Cellist of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, he was appointed to the faculty of the Jacob’s School of Music at IndianaUniversity earlier this year.
