Renee Fleming - The Voice of the Century

Renee Fleming, "the voice of the century" is the soloist for Mississippi Opera's 65th anniversary performance at Thalia Mara Hall Friday, January 29th. BRAVO! Italian Restaurant & Bar is serving a fanciful ice cream dessert first created for her by Daniel Boulud and published in ELLE DECOR.

We will be offering this starting tonight, Jan, 22nd through the week.

WE have WATER... and we will OPEN Friday at 11 a.m.!!

We are thrilled to report that water has returned to Highland Village and we will open at 11 a.m. for lunch.   Staff members are high fiving in the kitchen, we all feel like we have been through the wringer.  But without any water!  ;-)  

Thank you for all your kind words of support... they have meant the world to us.

Water Crisis forces us to close...

We were the first to open after Katrina.

We opened the minute the power came on after the North Jackson Tornado.

We have stayed open through countless boil water alerts and power outages over the 16 years we have been blessed to serve our guests here in Jackson.

But this time, Mother Nature and that troublesome Yazoo clay wins. 

With an estimate of 80 water line breaks in the City of Jackson water system (full Clarion Ledger article here) we have zero water pressure at Broad Street, BRAVO! and Sal & Mookie's.   Yes, we are stocked up with bottled water and soft drinks, but we simply cannot service our guests without the abiltiy to wash up, use the restrooms, and the like.

We are hopeful that today's good weather will allow the hard working City of Jackson work crews to make headway and get water pressure back.  Once we have water pressure, we will reopen under a boil water situation where we will only use and serve sterilized water.

So, thank you for understanding... thank you for being patient.  If you have catering orders with us, we are contacting you by phone to make arrangements... we are keeping our commitments today and producing that which we can.  We would NEVER leave you high and dry. 

Well... dry maybe... just today.  (hee hee... couldn't resist!)

Water Crisis hits BRAVO!.... we will be closed Tuesday

Despite our best efforts - procuring bottled water, soft drinks - we find ourselves still with no water pressure at BRAVO!. To this end we cannot open for service... There is just no way to wash or perform basic functions. Stay tuned ... As the water mains are repaired, and we get our pressure back, we will be able to join the living again. Thank you for you continued and significant support. Yall are the best.

The Community Foundation of Greater Jackson is partnering with our restaurants to provide twelve nonprofit organizations the chance to raise money from their supporters... just by eating out!

 

The Community Foundation of Greater Jackson (CFGJ)  is excited about a new initiative for 2010 as they work to help their Nonprofit Partners raise awareness about their respective endowment funds held in trust by the CFGJ.   We have agreed to help the CFGJ raise both awareness and a little "seed money"... read on to find out how!

Each month, our three restaurants will feature one of the CFGJ’s twelve Nonprofit Partners.  For two consecutive days - the first Tuesday and Wednesday of each month - all guests who dine with us (or order take out)  and present a special coupon upong payment, will trigger a donation of 10% of the total of their bill to that month's featured partner's fund held by the Community Foundation!!

We think it’s a win-win.  Eat out, have money donated to a favorite nonprofit... what a concept!  And all you have to do is print and present each month's coupon!

Eating Local with Elaine Trigiani - A Tuscany meets Mississippi Experience

BRAVO! Italian Restaurant and Bar is thrilled to announce that Elaine has agreed to share her passion for eating locally Monday, January 18th at 6:30 p.m. with up to sixty lucky guests who sign up for this event.

Following the Italian culinary tradition of fresh, seasonal and close to home, Elaine has created a very special menu assembled from materia prima (ingredients) gathered from farmers in Mississippi and neighboring states, each course served with wines to match... and an olive oil mini-tasting to boot!

Elaine Trigiani was born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi, worked as an art historian in Washington D.C., and has been living in Italy for the last 10 years, first in Sicily, now in Tuscany. She is certified as an olive oil taster by the Region of Tuscany, wrote a guide book of Sicily for the Eyewitness series, teaches olive oil tasting seminars, cooking lessons and designs culinary travel programs in Tuscany and Sicily.

Elaine will talk a bit about her life in Tuscany and what she does for work and play. She will share her knowledge about olive oil and lead a simple tasting before dinner. At the core of this special night is a discussion of the importance of eating locally and how that is nothing new in Italy... it's the way of life.

-  Olive oil tasting - a brief introduction to the basics of Olive Oil with a guided tasting
-  Antipasto - Gulf Oysters with Crostini Vari (fett'unta, Louisiana radish butter, Mississippi goat cheese)
-  Primo - Spaghetti alla Carbonara
-  Secondo - Honey Roast Pork Loin
-  Contorni - Mississippi's own winter greens and sweet potatoes
-  Dessert - Mississippi Pecan Tart with crème fraîche
